Saucony x 3sixteen Peregrine 15 - Gesso
Gesso, also known as Italian gesso, is a white, paint-like base coat applied to canvas, wood, or paper before painting. This primer creates texture and prevents paint from soaking into the surface, helping colors adhere better and appear more vibrant. It's fitting that this material was chosen as the inspiration for 3sixteen's first collaboration with Saucony and their Peregrine 15 trail shoe - a beautiful blank canvas that naturally develops a unique patina similar to their famed Japanese denim. For DIY enthusiasts, the shoe features carefully chosen trims that absorb color differently when dyed, allowing for endless customization possibilities.
It’s important to note that the Peregrine 15 is a function-first trail running shoe, and 3sixteen have very deliberately and carefully made sure not to disrupt that function with their choice of materials. Two keys areas the brand did impart its identity on the shoe: The heel and tongue. Hairy suede harkens back to 3sixteen shoe releases of the past and is also used in these key areas to add a bit of texture and depth.
